Colin Anderson
President & CEO
APPrO
An Engineer with an MBA and 25+ years in the electricity industry, Colin brings a wealth of expertise in his leadership of APPrO. As President and CEO, Colin represents Ontario's power generators, from developers and suppliers to public and private enterprises focused on reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy.

Pat Dalzell
Executive Director, Corporate Affairs and APPrO Chair
Bruce Power
Pat leads government and stakeholder relations at Bruce Power, with a background that spans financial trading and pension investment management earlier in his career at the company. He holds a BCom in Finance from Concordia University and the CFA designation.

Akira Yamamoto
Director, Regulatory & Market Policy
TransAlta
Akira brings 18+ years of experience spanning utility regulation, market policy advocacy, compliance, business development, and financial analysis across the power generation sector. He holds commerce and science degrees from the University of Calgary and holds the CPA, CIA, and Energy Risk Professional designations.

Brandon Kelly
Director, Regulatory & Market Affairs
Northland Power
Brandon is the Director, Regulatory & Market Affairs at Northland Power. Brandon has been at Northland since 2019 and worked at the IESO prior to that time. He holds a BA in Economics from Wilfrid Laurier University.

Brett Kruse
Vice President
Calpine
An industry veteran with 40 years of experience spanning power plant operations, wholesale electricity market design, and regulatory affairs, Brett has contributed to the development of over 7,200 MW of generation across multiple markets. He currently serves on the NERC Reliability and Security Technical Committee.

Charles Conrad
Senior Manager, Energy Origination & Development
TC Energy
Charles brings over a decade of experience across generation, storage, and project development, having led financial modelling for Bruce Power's multi-billion dollar life extension PPA and closed eight utility-scale solar farm purchases. He holds an MBA from Schulich, a BSc from Waterloo, and an LLM in Energy and Infrastructure from Osgoode Hall.

Chris Benedetti

Chris brings 25+ years of expertise in government relations, strategic communications, and public affairs with a deep specialization in energy and environmental policy. He has worked with governments at all levels to advance results-based decision-making in the power sector and currently serves as an elected Board Director of both APPrO and the Ontario Energy Association.

Guru Kalyanraman
Associate Director, Energy and Utilities
GTAA (Pearson Airport)
Guru manages lifecycle planning for Pearson Airport's generation, utilities, and microgrid as the airport advances toward net-zero. He brings senior experience across utility regulatory policy, energy retail, conservation program delivery, and energy efficiency services, and holds an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University.

Jan Buijk

AB Energy Canada Ltd.
Jan brings 25+ years of hands-on experience spanning engineering, project management, and sales and marketing across reciprocating gas engine-based CHP, biogas, district energy, and distributed generation projects throughout Ontario and Canada. He holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Utrecht, and serves as a Board Director for APPrO and the Decentralized Energy Association of Canada.

John's comprehensive energy law practice spans corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters across the full spectrum of generation technologies, from battery storage and renewables to nuclear and natural gas. He advises provincial governments, system operators, utilities, developers, and lenders.

Julien Wu
Senior Director, Regulatory Affairs – Canada
Brookfield Renewable
Julien brings 15+ years of electricity sector experience, including 10+ years at Brookfield Renewable focused on Canadian regulatory, market, and policy matters such as energy board hearings, ISO market design, and cross-border energy trades. He holds degrees from McGill, HEC Montreal, and Carleton University.

Kelly Grieves

Atura Power
Kelly leads Energy Markets, commercial operations, and business development across electricity and clean fuels, and has held leadership roles at Atura Power in corporate and Indigenous affairs. A licensed Professional Engineer, she holds a BASc in Chemical Engineering from Queen's University and an MBA from the University of Toronto's Rotman School.

Lou Colangelo

Toromont Energy
With 40+ years in Ontario's electricity sector, Lou oversees the development and operation of clean and renewable energy assets, including CHP, energy storage, and district energy projects. He is an active contributor to APPrO's Working Group on DERs and a trusted voice in stakeholder engagement across IESO-led initiatives.

Marc Chidiac

Ontario Power Generation
Marc leads commercial strategy for OPG's generation portfolio, encompassing power trading across Northeast markets, clean energy partnerships, and long-term energy planning. He brings 20+ years of experience in asset management, real-time operations, market design, and energy forecasting.

Matthew Davis
VP, Regulatory, Policy and Government Relations
Capital Power
Matthew leads Capital Power's engagement strategy with federal and provincial governments, regulators, and key policy stakeholders, helping shape the policy and regulatory environment across the company's diverse generation portfolio.

Patrick Leitch
Chief Operating Officer
Capstone Infrastructure
Patrick oversees all operational aspects of Capstone's portfolio, including health and safety, regulatory compliance, and major capital project delivery, and spearheaded the company's Operational Excellence Management System. He previously led project teams at Graham Construction and Kiewit Corporation.

Pelino Colaiacovo

Pelino specializes in M&A, capital raising, restructuring, and project partnerships for clients in the energy, utilities, and infrastructure sectors. He previously served as Chief of Staff to the Ontario Minister of Energy, where he played a central role in establishing the Ontario Power Authority and reshaping the province's electricity landscape.

Peter Ronson

Markham District Energy
Peter oversees two award-winning community energy systems serving over 15 million square feet of buildings, including four district energy plants, CHP installations, and over 55 km of distribution piping. He has 33 years of experience in electricity and district energy.

Sarah Bresolin
Director, Government & Regulatory Affairs
ENGIE North America
Sarah advises on grid-scale renewables, energy storage, and green hydrogen across the US and Canada. A former Massachusetts Assistant Attorney General, she also serves as Chair of the New England Power Pool and on the board of the Canadian Renewables Energy Association.

Shoshana Pasternak

A former Ontario Energy Ministry policy advisor who rose to Director of Policy, Shoshana now leads government relations for Invenergy across four provinces. She is a 2024 Woman of Distinction (WiRE) and Corporate Knights 30 Under 30 honoree.

He brings 25+ years of experience advising on complex power and infrastructure financings at the intersection of government policy and private capital.

Stephen Somerville

Stephen brings 25 years of experience in clean energy development, acquisition, and financing across Canada, the US, and Europe, including leading the acquisition of 16 US hydro facilities totalling nearly 1,400 MW. A long-standing APPrO contributor, he served as Annual Conference Chair from 2005 to 2023.
