Invitation to nominate recipients for the Probyn Prize
The Probyn Prize Selection Committee is pleased to invite nominations of deserving individuals to receive the 2011 Stephen Probyn Prize for Innovation in Energy. Along with public and peer recognition, the 2011 Prize includes a $10,000 donation to a charity chosen by the recipient. Nominations are invited from across the electricity industry and the public. This is an important opportunity to highlight outstanding accomplishments in the sustainable energy field and to draw attention to the value such work holds for future generations.
The award is to be presented periodically to recognize a deserving individual or organization for “significant advances and achievements in financial markets, public policy or science and technology which promote action on climate change and sustainable development.” Canadian sculptor Colin Gibson has created an original work of art for the Probyn Prize on its themes of innovation and sustainable development, commissioned for APPrO as the gift of The Probyn Group™. The bronze sculpture will be on display at the 2011 APPrO Conference in Toronto for the award ceremony on November 15.
2011 will mark the second time the award has been presented. With this in mind, the Selection Committee is looking for a particularly remarkable individual or organization to receive the Probyn Prize. The award will be a public commendation which allows the recipient to cite the honour in public and private communications and to keep and display the sculpture for a period of time following the award.
Any individual, group or other organization that has made a significant contribution to the furtherance of environmentally responsible forms of power generation, will be of interest as a potential candidate. If they have done so using innovative business methods, the nomination will be of greater interest.
Please send all nominations in confidence, along with supporting background information including full contact information and substantiation of the candidate’s achievements, to the address below. The deadline is September 15, 2011.
