The supply mix: Integration of supply mix requirements into the market framework
How much management of the supply mix is acceptable, and what are the most practical means
of implementing supply mix constraints? The Ontario government has set a course for shutting down all coal-fired generation in Ontario and bringing online large amounts of
renewables. To achieve these ends most economically, market forces must be working at every stage. Speakers will examine what the realistic alternatives are for controlling costs
while reaching the supply mix objectives. Speakers will need to have regard for such issues as: 1. Controlling overall energy costs 2. Ensuring adequate supply
3. Maintaining system balance 4. Development times 5. Equalizing the burden of environmental costs
6. Making realistic comparisons between supply and efficiency alternatives 7. Optimizing the level of imports
